The most important phase of a child’s basic growth and thought process development is when he is a student. Development is the process of learning, adapting and changing.The concept of a child’s development is neither concise nor precise and lacks clarity. Mere knowledge and development without moral values makes the child diffident. An average adult brain is more resistant to new information and ideas and most of the people acquire their wisdom and decision making skills in childhood which with time gets modified but the basic values remain the same most of the times. Role of Parents and School
Intelligence plus character is the goal of education. Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself
This makes this period very crucial. Here comes the role of parents and school; as a child looks up to their teachers and parents for inspiration. Imparting education is the most powerful tool to shape the future.
And education should not only be limited to books. The goal of education should be to make a man out of child; a man with values, responsibility, respect for others and compassion for the needy. All these qualities are usually ignored in institutions as well as home, which needs to be changed. As is rightly stated in this quotation- “Intelligence plus character is the goal of education. Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself”; our focus should be on the overall development of child and his vision towards life. This could be achieved by active involvement of parents in child’s day to day life, and teachers can encourage students to be kind and helping to each other and inculcate the feeling of oneness amongst them. Youth is the pillar of a country and a country with self aware, responsible, morally strong youth is sure to be prosperous and happy. Thus, parents and teachers should come together to raise a child with high morals and strong character along with wisdom and knowledge, so that they can make their family as well as the country proud and contribute in making a good society in future.
